TrueUp tracks job openings at the majority of tech companies and top startups (over 9,000+ companies). This data does not include roles at non-tech companies and consulting agencies.

Some external datasets, including Indeed's software-development postings index, still point to a weaker tech hiring environment. That contrast is worth noting, but these measures are not directly comparable to TrueUp's data. Indeed's index likely captures a broader software hiring market, including substantial demand from non-tech employers, while TrueUp focuses on open jobs at a defined set of public tech companies and tech startups. As a result, we think TrueUp data is better suited to measure hiring demand within that top-tech employer universe.
